Winter Selection: Part two

21 July - 15 August 2026
Overview

This winter, the gallery presents a focused installation pairing the textile-based abstractions of Melinda Harper with the kinetic, linear sculptures of Konstantin Dimopoulos. The exhibition isolates and investigates the formal tensions governing structural line, woven color, and physical volume.

Melinda Harper’s hand-stitched tapestries destabilise the traditional boundaries of geometric abstraction. Through a dense, systematic layering of paint and thread, her rhythmic stitchwork constructs a vibrant optical grid. These intricate compositions actively manipulate the viewer's depth perception, transforming flat textiles into pulsating fields of color and movement.

Directly confronting these works, two linear rod sculptures by Konstantin Dimopoulos activate the gallery’s interior architecture.

Konstantin Dimopoulos utilizes industrial materials and monochromatic palettes to construct kinetic, geometric sculptures. His intentional linear interventions explore the inherent tension between pure abstraction and natural forces. His pointillist approach skillfully transforms simple, individual shafts into elegant, sweeping shapes. Through this rhythmic method, he transforms static industrial components into a formal meditation on the fluidity of motion and the structural rigor of geometry, bridging the gap between raw materiality and refined artistic expression.

These sculptures serve as a testament to the artist's ability to manipulate rigid materials to evoke organic grace. By balancing precise lines with a sense of kinetic energy, Dimopoulos crafts a visual dialogue where space becomes a tangible medium, inviting viewers to experience the intersection of mathematical order and natural grace.
