E(scape) delves into the escapist tendencies embedded within landscape painting, examining how artists have used the natural world as both a literal and metaphorical refuge. landscape painting has, in some traiditons,   served as a means to transcend the mundane or harsh realities of life, offering viewers an idealised or imaginative space in which to escape. this idelaised space, is not, one always of 'sunshine and rainbows' in the nieve way; but also a projected emotiive or surrealist space  This exhibition explores how different artists, have deployed the landscape-as-escape through their depictions of nature, from romantic vistas of untouched wilderness to brooding representations of landscape that suggest an inner world of emotional toil, to abstracted lakes that point towards an idealised, birds eye view of our nature.
