Sydney Contemporary 2025- J14: ART FAIR

We are excited to bring a dynamic presentation for Sydney Contemporary, featuring a solo exhibition of new works by Marie Hagerty alongside a curated group presentation showcasing paintings, works on paper, sculpture, and ceramics by Donovan Christie, Tom Gerrard, HUSH, Robert Jacks, Kate Rohde, Bettina Willner.

 

Marie Hagerty’s solo presentation will unveil a striking new body of work that highlights her effective and curiously unusual hybrid approach. Employing both traditional oils and modern acrylics, Hagerty seamlessly combines non-figurative compositions with seemingly figurative elements rendered with a high degree of verisimilitude. A woman’s leg, face, or torso emerges within her layered surfaces, subtly inviting a feminist reading without explicitly defining one. Her works exist in an ambiguous realm, where abstraction and representation converge, while a sophisticated play of push-and-pull optics activates the sensuous, rolling surfaces.

 

The group presentation brings together six artists whose practices engage with materiality, narrative, and contemporary visual culture in distinct yet complementary ways. Tom Gerrard’s distinctive graphic style reflects urban landscapes and subcultures. Bettina Willner’s ceramic works explore biomorphism through abstract organic forms shaped by emotional association and instinctive processes. Donovan Christie's work plays with pop culture, nostalgia, memory and place.  Kate Rohde’s exuberant, ornamental sculptures push the boundaries of craft and design, creating immersive, otherworldly environments.

 

As an addition prestation we are delighted to shwocase the works of british Street-artist HUSH who's work explore scale and gradure with an international perspective.
