The title of the painting is taken from a much quoted dialogue from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. It shows an extravagant arrangement of flowers, with the small skull at its base. The flowers include roses, hollyhocks, and gyps, sitting atop the skull in a macabre, extravagant, head-dress-like arrangement. This is perhaps among the most direct references to vanitas, reinforced by the title of the painting, as flowers in full bloom are emblematic of the brevity of youth and human existence. It is also a good-natured poke at humans as fertiliser for nature. It is possible that this work dialogues with the previous piece by presenting a small-scale skull thus making it less threatening, as well as demonstrating the post-apocalyptic dystopian future of plants taken over the planet in all their beauty even when the humans are gone.
