One of my all time favourite characters who has recurred throughout many of my paintings is ‘Dangerous Daryl’.
In this painting Daryl has made the trip to ride the wild surf at the edge of the world.
Daryl has surfed some of the wildest places on the planet. As any surfer would know, you never reveal exactly where a surf spot is, and Daryl has many secret spots that only he and a few others know. One is in mid ocean - the coordinates are a closely guarded secret. Daryl got the nickname ‘Dangerous Daryl’ as a young boy because of the crazy stunts he did. Just a ride in a car with Daryl has even the hardiest souls holding onto the door handles!
