Wayne: While I was reading Tyll I was continually struck by the vivid imagery on every page. The scene where the young Prince Henry drowns particularly resonated with me. I could feel the physical force of the wind stinging Henry’s cheeks, followed by the piercing cold of the freezing sea as it swallowed him, his fear and confusion gradually replaced with a strange sense of calmness as any rational thought faded. In this painting Henry is looking down at his body, his brief life is flashing before him.
